Stella McCartney Goes With Unusual Welsh Name For Daughter

Stella McCartney, 39, and husband Alasdhair Willis, made it 2 and 2 with the November 29 arrival of their second daughter, and fourth child, in London.

The baby’s name is Reiley Dilys Stella. I had to look up Dilys  (no, I don’t have every name under the sun at my fingertips!) and it turns out to be a Welsh name meaning “steadfast or true.” It’s a nice meaning, but I’m not wild about the name itself.

I do have to take issue with Reiley — yet another “reinterpretation” of the classic “Riley” (which, BTW, is now the # 1 unisex name in the U.S.) It pretty much guarantees a lifetime of re-spelling the name as everyone assumes it is spelled “Riley.”
