Céline Dion Chooses Nelson And Eddy For Twins Names

After several days of indecision, Céline Dion and Réne Angélil have come up with names for their twin boys, born October 23. Their names are Nelson and Eddy.

I have to admit, I did a double take the first time I saw this report on the web. I mean, what’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear that an international singing star has named her sons Nelson and Eddy? That’s right — she must be a huge fan of legendary American singer Nelson Eddy.

Not so. As Dion’s rep told People, the name Eddy honors Dion’s first record producer, Eddy Marnay, who is “like a father to her.” And Nelson is a nod to Nelson Mandela.

Even so, I think it’s going to be hard for anyone who ever heard of Nelson Eddy (the singer) to think of anyone else when they think of Nelson and Eddy the twins!
