Alanis Morissette’s Baby Boy Arrives On Christmas Day
Singer Alanis Morissette welcomed a baby boy, her first child, on Christmas Day. The singer, 36, and husband/rapper Mario “Souleye” Treadway, 30, became first-time parents with the arrival of their son on December 25. His name is Ever Imre.
While the name Imre is a traditional Hungarian name, and, more to the point, the name of Morissette’s twin brother, the name Ever is a more unusual choice. The most famous “Ever” that springs to mind is actress Ever Dawn Carradine, of the Carradine acting dynasty, who became a mother herself earlier this year. Ever was also the name chosen by Milla Jovovich for her baby girl, back in 2007. At that time, Jovovich explained that Ever was a Scottish girl’s name.
I have also seen it mentioned that Ever (sometime spelled Eber) is an Hispanic name for boys. I’d love to hear peoples’ ideas on the origin of this name! A little bit of trivia I just dug up — the name Ever was, amazingly, a top 1000 baby name in the U.S. in the years 1893 and 1901! I have a feeling it’s a very old name, that maybe came over with the Mayflower. One of those names like Patience, Love, Charity, and so on.
